Why Martingale fails

Every loss doubles the next bet, so a bankroll only covers a handful of losses in a row, and the table limit stops the doubling even earlier. Long streaks feel rare, but over hundreds of spins they are almost certain. Full results in our Martingale simulation on 10,000 players and the 7 betting systems test.

FAQ

How many losses in a row can Martingale survive?

With a $1,000 bankroll and a $10 base bet, only 6. The seventh bet would be $640 while you have $370 left. Each extra loss doubles the bet, so bankroll needs grow exponentially.

How often do 7 losses in a row happen in roulette?

On a European wheel, 7 non-red results in a row happen about once every 106 sequences, but in a 1,000-spin session a streak of 7 or more showed up in about 99% of our simulated sessions.

Does Martingale beat the house edge?

No. In our 10,000-player test players lost 2.6% of everything they bet, almost exactly the 2.7% house edge. Martingale only changes the shape: many small wins and rare huge losses.

18+ only. No betting system beats a negative house edge. Responsible gambling.
